‘The table is alive!’
Tables with a design that expresses character. An exposition of some 25 table designs Gerard der Kinderen created the
last three years. Also some new designs will be shown. The table is the most important furniture item you use. Different
designs for different users and different situation, but all have just that bit of character that makes them alive and stand out in the crowd. That’s what this designer wants to reach.
A new design is a table with a leather tabletop made out of a single piece of skin. This table is called ‘Personal Table’. It’s the modern equivalent of the classic leather inlaid oak desk. The leather creates a feeling of tactile comfort and it will age gracefully getting the patina created by the user. The table top
consists of one piece of leather without stitches.
Also new is a table made out of glass. A table completely made of glass with the die cast aluminium construction clearly visible. A table designed for the purist. Glass used is laminated hardened glass. The construction bracket is mounted with nuts and bolts going through the glass. Also shown is a version with Sefar Vision fabric titanium.
A special designed Crosstable 4-Beam, the crosstable ’Iperion’ made out acacia wooden beams, a puzzle fixed with one wooden peg.
